A good wizard finds his magical powers diminishing as this Rankin/Bass production based on the Peter Dickinson novel opens. His nemesis, the evil Ommadon (voiced by James Earl Jones at his deepest and scariest), swiftly takes advantage of the situation. Who will save the world? Why, none other than a young scientist-novelist-game inventor, named Peter Dickenson (mildly voiced by John Ritter), who is zapped from the future back into the time of dragons. Populating this Japanese-animation fantasy film are the titular fire-breathing dragons, the wizards, a knight, a maiden, some elves, and--in a feminist departure from tradition--a heroic bowwoman. The battles are fairly mild and most of the virtuous characters recover, making this a good choice for family viewing, as well as a staple for the fantasy fanatic's video library. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Thank you!
I have searched for this movie on dvd for a couple of years now and was thrilled that someone was finally selling it. Thank you so much.
flight of dragons
Flight of dragons came in quickly and worked perfectly. I have already had many hours of enjoyment watching it with my son and nieces and nephews!
Finally out on DVD, even though it's not perfect!
I just received my copy of THE FLIGHT OF DRAGONS, and I am glad Warner Bros. offer it on AMAZON, so overseas customer can get their hand on it!
Recorded on DVD-R, image quality is more or less VHS quality, but certainly better then the copy I have, which was recorded to DVD-R from my old VHS tape. The problem I have is the 10 minutes chapter skip instead of chapter mark on the proper interval. If I could do a better chapter mark on my Pioneer DVD/HDD recorder, they should be able to do better then me! Kind of sloppy here! Of course, I won't expect a widescreen edition, since it was released in US directed to TV in the 80's.
I also not sure what with the warning regarding the disc will only play back on "PLAY ONLY" DEVICES. If my DVD-R copied from VHS tape could play on all DVD drive, why should DVD released by a big studio have such problem? Kind of silly and irresponsible, isn't it?
Anyway, the copy I received is able to playback on both my Pioneer DVD/HDD recorder, Panasonic Blu-ray/DVD player, and both my iMac and MacBook DVD drive!
Still, I am glad that it finally out on DVD. With THE LAST UNICORN, 2 of the best animation Rankin/Bass ever produced!

Big problem with this DVD! I couldn't get it to play. Returned it & second one would not play. Then in VERY small print (I had to have my glasses)on the back of cover it states that it MIGHT (caps mine) not play on DVD player with recorder. It would NOT play on our machine which has a recorder. This was obviously the problem since it worked on a friend's player but not on our own. The Amazon write-up did NOT have this information. Very misleading. This is the only DVD I've ever gotten that would not play! Very disappointing!
best sci-fi-fantasy animation
just get this and watch to believe it. been waiting for years to have the DVD version. video and audio transfer is ok -- nothing spectacular. i'm just happy to have it on disc.
