When Bobby Pendragon first arrives on the tropical world of Ibara, he finds paradise. As he works to uncover clues about the turning point this seemingly idyllic territory will soon face, all he can determine is that the people of Ibara are blissfully happy. It's not long before Bobby discovers, however, that they are also blissfully...oblivious.

The leaders of Ibara are keeping a devastating secret from their people, one that gives Saint Dane all the opportunity he needs to launch his final assault on Halla.

While Bobby struggles to learn the truth in time to thwart Saint Dane, Courtney Chetwynde desperately searches for Mark Diamond. On the heels of a shocking tragedy, Mark has disappeared. Worse, he seems to be under Saint Dane's influence. It's up to Courtney to find Mark and stop him from making a grave mistake that could change the future of all existence.

Couldn't put it down!

Bobby Pendragon has returned in The Pilgrims of Rayne, and after his latest adventure on Quillan, he's ready to fight Saint Dane yet again. This time he's whisked off to Ibara, where he hopes to defeat Saint Dane once and for all. Meanwhile, on a distant planet, his best friend Courtney Chetynwyde is desperately trying to stop their other friend Mark from destroying all of Halla. Will Bobby Pendragon save Halla? Or will his longtime best friend destroy everything he has worked for?

The Pilgrims of Rayne was impossible to put down. It definetely lives up to the other books in the series. It's a worthwhile read!

Bobby Pendragon's next territory in Halla is called Ibara. Ibara is a tropical paradise. It's sunny, warm, colorful, and the perfect place to go on vacation.

Seeing as this is Saint Dane's next targeted territory, Bobby figures there's more to this utopia than meets the eye.

After conversing with the Ibara inhabitants, Bobby realizes that everyone is very happy with the way they live, but later finds out that if you do not go by what the government (aka the tribunal) rules, you and your family will disappear.

There is a secret in Ibara that the leaders are not telling everyone. A secret that involves Ibara's past, other territories, and an opportunity for Saint Dane to conquer another territory.

While Bobby faces troubles his acolytes, Courtney and Mark, read his journals intently. When Mark's parents die in a plane accident, he disappears, leaving Courtney to wonder where he went. Uncovering clues to Mark's whereabouts, Courtney is faced with two realities. One- Mark is being manipulated by Saint Dane. And two- Mark has created a new technology that could compromise all of Halla.

Being the eighth book in a series of ten, I knew this installment would turn everything up a notch. It does not disappoint! This book has twists that will make you hold your eyes open in the dead of night and say, "One more chapter!"

Pilgrims of Rayne Book review

D.J. MacHale is a writer, director, executive producer and a creator of several popular television series and movies. In book eight of the series "Pendragon" Bobby is faced with decisions that seem impossible to make. Such as, if Rayne is the real first domino to the destruction of Halla should he go against the traveler code and mix territories to save it. To reiterate, this is the eighth book in the series "Pendragon." Furthermore, he has made 91 episodes of the Nickelodeon series, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" which talks about scary children's stories. Book eight of "Pendragon" is the latest book. This book is one of those which you just can't put down. There are always twists and turns in this series. For example, in the last chapter Bobby tries to stop Saint Dane, who by the way is the exact opposite of a saint, from destroying Halla by blowing up the portal so nobody can use it to get on or off the territory. For those who aren't reading this great series Halla is everything and every world, or "territory." But I digress, Bobby trapped himself on the territory to try and secure Saint Dane from leaving. Then in the Epilogue you find out that Saint Dane wanted this to happen. In conclusion, this series is one of the best book series I have ever read. Apparently I am not the only one because this series was awarded to be the number 1 New York Times Bestselling series.

Pilgrims of Rayne

My son flies through this series, and this book is one of his favorites of the series. Pendragon books are good books for early teens through adult, and even prior to early teens, depending on reading level. My son started reading these when he was 11 and he just turned 13. We gave him this book for Christmas. I wish it had come out closer to Christmas. My son reserved it at the library (which I kept 'forgetting' to pick up for him) and every time we went to the mall he'd sneak off to the book store to sit in a corner and read this book. He was more anxious for the release this book than he was for the last Harry Potter book!

He read it straight through.

My son (15 1/2) requested this and when he got it he read it straight through in a couple of days. I am not familiar with the story, but am always glad to see him "devour" a book.
